Office Outlook is certainly the best desktop email client out there for Windows operating system. I have been using Outlook for the past few months, and all I can say is that it’s hard to switch to other email clients once you start using Outlook.

Outlook 2016/2019/365 hanging at processing, starting or loading profile screen
While launching the Outlook 2016 on my Windows 10 PC last morning, the Outlook 2016 hanged at the processing screen. After killing the program in Task Manager and launching again thrice, Outlook 2016 started without any issues. This noon, when trying to launch Outlook 2016, it hanged again, but this time at starting screen.
If your Outlook 2016 or Outlook 365 is hanging at the processing, starting or loading profile screen, try out the following solution to fix the hanging issue.
Fix to Outlook 2016/2019/365 hanging at processing, starting or loading profile screen
Solution 1 of 2
Step 1: Simultaneously press Windows logo and R keys on the keyboard to open Run command dialog.
Step 2: Type Outlook.exe /safe and then press Enter key to open Outlook 2016 or Outlook 365 in Safe mode.
NOTE: Be sure to add a space between Outlook.exe and /safe. Else you will get Windows cannot find Outlook.exe/safe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again error.
Step 3: When you see the Choose Profile dialog, choose a profile (if you have multiple profiles), and then click OK button.
Outlook 2016 or Outlook 365 should open now without hanging.
Step 4: Close the Outlook program. Start the Outlook program again normally now. The program should now start without any issues.
Solution 2 of 2
If the above method didn’t for you, you can fix the hanging issue by creating a new Outlook data file. Here is how to do that:
Step 1: Open up the File Explorer, and navigate to the following folder.
C:UsersUserNameAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook
In the above path, “C” is the drive where Windows is installed and UserName is your user account name.
NOTE: If you can’t see AppData folder, it’s because the folder is hidden by default. In the File Explorer, click View, and then check Hidden items to view the folder.
Step 2:Right-click on your Outlook data file, click Rename, and then add Backup at the end of it. For instance, if the name of Outlook data file is [email protected], you need to rename it as [email protected] backup.
Step 3: Finally, open the Start menu and launch Outlook 2016/365. The program should now launch without hanging at processing, starting or loading profile screen.
Outlook 2019 Stuck In Processing Center
The Outlook program will automatically connect to the server to download all messages. You will not be asked to setup your account again.
So my question is: How do I fix this so I can finally install Microsoft VC Redist Packages the games require? I've reinstalled the games, but that does not help, and sometimes I can pass by without having to install, but most of the time I cant install the package, which results in not being able toaccess my newly bought game. I have installed games that require a first-time setup with Microsoft VC Redist Package x86 and x64, like Skyrim Special Edition and Worlds Adrift, and when it prompts me saying that it cannot install the package, I click OK and it encounters problems. It says that the.msi file is either not valid or does not exist. Microsoft vc redist package steam.

Hello Chris,
Let us try to create new user profile, re-configure email account and check if all the emails are synced and Outlook open as expected.
To create new profile in Outlook, kindly follow the steps mentioned in the below given link and check if it helps.
Once the new email profile is created, try re-configuring the email account to check if it helps.

Hello Parth,
I'm not sure what 're-configuring the email account means'. I have created a new profile which seems to be working at the moment. But so did the other one initially. Why would it stop working? Will I have to keep creating new profiles every week? None of the rules I set up in the other profile are of course found in this one.

Who marked a workaround as an Answer?
What we want is a fix - or it will just happen again.
This is seriously affecting my business as my emails are not being downloaded.
Come on Microsoft let's see some support.
p.s. 'Let us try' sounds condescending....

I found this on another forum. Try this. It worked for me.
1. From the Mail Section in outlook, Right click on 'INBOX'
2. Select the option 'IMAP folders..' 3. Click 'Query' 4. A list of folders will generate below. You will notice 2 tabs above the list of folders, 'All' and 'Subscribed'. Under the 'All' Tab, it's important you see a folder Icon for each of those folders. If the Icon is missing you should not see that folder under the 'Subscribed' Tab. The Goal is to make sure both Tabs match and have the folders you want to sync listed. 5. If any folders are missing the Icon you can select that folder and then click on 'Subscribe' 6. Once complete, click 'OK'.

Same issue on several fresh installs. Very frustrating that we are paying for a service that we are currently unable to use because of a technical issue that Microsoft is not able to resolve. However it's apparent that the consumer is able to replicate very easily.
Microsoft, it would be very nice if you would be kind enough to release a patch resolving this issue or a direct resolve for this matter.

I am having this problem too. I can only get messages sent if I restart or shut down. I continue to get the 'synchronizing'. This was intermittent until recently but now always happens. I have repaired office 2016 twice and tried the subscribe and unsubscribe tip mentioned earlier. Nothing helps.

hi alex,
to look into the issue, i’d like to know the following information:
1. since you have created a new profile, please make sure you start outlook with the new profile. select prompt for a profile to be used then choose the new profile when starting outlook. 2. does the issue persist if you start outlook in safe mode? to do that, press the ‘windows + r’ key on the keyboard and type in ‘outlook /safe’, and hit ok in the run open box. note: there is a space between outlook and /. 3. run the /resetnavpane command to check if the issue can be resolved. press the ‘windows + r’ key on the keyboard and type in outlook.exe /resetnavpane, and hit ok. note: there is a space between “outlook.exe” and “/resetnavpane”. 4. i found that you said you would try a colleague’s account on your surface 3. does the issue occur with his/her account?
moreover, using the office 365 support and recovery assistant (sara) tool that can diagnose and fix many outlook problems. please download the tool and run the support and recovery assistant on the affected computer.
